Back in the land of my birth
Bozeman Family Reunion time again, and so I have made the trek back home to remind myself, yet again, why one can never really go home again. I am reminded of how much my mother’s hovering irks me, how distant (as in the completely opposite of hovering) my dad can be, and how awkward it is to reconnect to friends and siblings. It was so effortless when I was here. I just walked in the door...

I hope that snazzy link for “Return to Me” worked. If not, then please listen to my plug for Glen Philips’ new album. Glen Philips’ Reveals the Secrets of the New Explorers which is an awesome departure from his norm. He continues to impress me with his musical diversity and poignancy. Listen to him and throw lots of money his way so he can continue making worthwhile...

The Bailout... or What Is and What Can Never Be.
Well, I’ve not professed to be a staunch Republican since I was 19 or 20—blame it on young idealism—but I figure we can’t have it both ways. We can’t laud ourselves as being a capitalistic society… and have everything backed by the government. We’re either capitalists… or we’re not, and we need to accept the responsibility of our...

Palin's Words Raise Red Flags →
I’m sure that this columnist is one of the demon-liberal-God-hating writers from The New York Times that Senator McCain and his camp were talking about. I’m sure that just about anyone who does research on him will find he more than likely doesn’t support McCain. I don’t really know… nor do I actually care… because his political leanings aren’t the point....

Hurricane Prep?
sydvish: Q and I aren’t really doing much hurricane prep (other than filling up the cars with gas, eating the food that’s in our freezer, making sure we have non-perishables, and bringing in plants/patio furniture).  We already have batteries, flashlights, and a radio.  Loss of water isn’t really a problem here in BR.  There’s not really much we can do.  We thought about sandbags, but I don’t...

My Thoughts on Doctor Who's "Journey's End"......
So, My Thoughts on the end… I’ve finally finished watching the whole thing. Some of my ideas turned out to be spot on, others worse than I imagined… and some far far better. Rose killed me. Wait… No, I’m wrong. I take that back. The look on The Doctor’s face… almost literally killed me (to which my lugubrious phone call to Elizabeth can testify.) As soon as the other was created, I thought,...

The Good...
So, we had dinner at Glo’s this evening-her daughter had come in from Austin, and thus it was a nice little family gathering with pasta, veggies, and V provided a yummy blackberry cobbler. I got to make one of my ol’ “nice” party favorites-bruschetta (essentially, tomatoes, seasonings, olive oil, and mozzarella on toasted French bread). A good time was had by all.

The Sad...
Friday night, while I was enjoying a hamburger with my husband before going to the movies, my friend B was dealing with her own little Hell. She got word that her mother succumbed to her fight with cancer. I’ve always hated that euphemism; it implies a surrender, a white flag, a giving up. I guess I’m too much of a Dylan Thomas fan to go along with that. On top of that, although I didn’t know B’s...

V’s husband, Q, takes his bar exam over the next three days. I know he doesn’t necessarily need the good thoughts/prayers/energy/etc, cause he’s brilliant, diligent etc, but send them anyway… OH, and VC, my Bulgarian student, didn’t get the IT job she applied for at the LSU Agcenter… so if any of you out there know where a person with a master’s in...

The Hero That We Need-
My loving husband surprised me Friday night. He had been gone most of the evening taking care of a friend in need, but when he came home, he got straight on the computer (no surprises so far) and looked up available tickets for The Dark Knight. … Wait, you need a bit more background information. I love Batman. Seriously, I LOVE Batman. I really don’t remember a time when he wasn’t my favorite...

"...Meaningless, Consumer-Driven Lives..."
One of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite guilty pleasures, Ten Things I Hate about You. I try to kid myself that it’s a classic, a remake of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, and features solid performances from solid and respected actors… but it really is a bit like Clueless: regurgitated plot nearly unrecognizable as a rendition of the original because of the attempts...

Results of the Test
The blood results came back better than normal, as expected. The new doctor is pretty nice, and I got in and out REALLY quickly… I didn’t even have enough time to fill out the paperwork, before I was called back for the general “nurse” stuff… and she was scaresly done before the doctor was ready to come in. That has NEVER happened to me before. I had even brought text...

Wish I Had Blogged Yesterday
Yesterday was a really great day. I worked hard at the AgCenter, I had a great dinner with my mother-in-law, and I sorted out my closet while watching Top Gear… I actually got things done. Today- I woke up an hour before I needed to be at a workshop. I wasn’t the last to walk in, but I certainly was later than I wanted to be (late enough to miss the first rounds of introductions). I...

Do you speak English? - WoW video →
OK. Just about everyone is aware of my opinion on WoW and Bizzard.  It’s hard to have respect for a company who designed a game platform with the sole intention to keep people in their control -yeah, it’s great business sense-but at the cost of human lives. (Yes, I know that it’s really more the fault of the people who abandon their lives and responsibilities… but they...

The Big Tease
The difference between “regular” virtual blogs, this blog, and a diary. So, I’m trying to be proactive with this whole feeling over-extended situation by attempting to plan my time more efficiently. Going Down the River
Ok. I promise. As you may have noticed, TV is not my life, and I try not to make it a habit of bitching about television shows. I would much rather leave my fantasy life with my fantasies… and, as Bastian’s father told him way back in the day, “keep [my] feet on the ground,” but something is really bothering me about the latest Doctor Who episode… and I think I’ve got to vent. For those of you who...

Lately there’s been a lot happening in my life, I’ve just not been able to write about it. YES! We'll Have No Bananas →
This article was interesting… something I had heard before, but kept letting it slip  (Oi the unintentional puns) my mind for something I deemed more important. The only critique I have is that it leaves unsaid (and thus, for many, un-thought) that we’ve screwed these Latin American countries in the past with our military might, tied them to a crop, doomed it to fail… and once...

Holy Crap? Am I Over-Extended?
It seems lately that I can’t get all of my obligations accomplished. I had to leave work today because the bookshelves my wonderful husband and Mr. R. built are up at the shop waiting to be primed and painted so they can be out of the way. By doing that, I not failed to help AJ with the Clover College kids (I was there for a short time) but I also didn’t even think about Vanya and our...

I’ve just seen on BBC News that it seems to be official; California is allowing Gay marriages and will allow citizens from other states to get married there. Interview with Parkview Baptist and a New Roomie.
I had an interview today… or rather, yesterday… it got late quickly… with Parkview Baptist where I met Ms. Duck and Ms. Dieterich. The whole experience was really awesome. They are at their liberty to make all their decisions for what would most help their student population unlike the teachers and administration of public schools, who are forced to bend to the whims of the...
